Rigorous Academic Content Our curriculum is standards-based and uses carefully chosen materials and assessments. Our teachers work to prepare students for the next grade. They give our students the skills and knowledge that build confidence for the future. High Impact Instruction Our teachers use technology, small group work, and projects to make learning fun. They check in throughout the year to see how our students are doing. They make sure everyone stays on track. Learning Mindsets Our teachers create a caring environment with high expectations. They encourage our students to think deeply, grow emotionally, and build a “can-do” attitude to overcome challenges. Personalized Learning We focus on each child’s needs. Activities are fun, meaningful, and often chosen by our students to help them learn in their own way. At the start of each school year, they work with their teachers as a team. They talk about what they are interested in, what they are good at, and what they hope to learn. They also share what helps them learn the best. This process creates a Personal Learning Plan (PLP) for the year. This plan is built with goals and personal choices in mind. Our families, teachers, and students work together throughout the year to check on progress and celebrate successes. Project-Based Learning In project-based learning, our students build their skills by working on real-world projects. They explore local and global topics, making learning fun and hands-on. Each project connects back to things that they are learning in class. Our students learn skills such as communication, collaboration, and planning. Projects may include helping a food bank by growing plants, making their own market after visiting a farmer’s market, or partnering with the Pulsera Project to learn about Fair Trade and other cultures. These projects help our students learn about the world and make a difference! Technology & Innovation Our school uses technology to help our students prepare for the future. Each student in kindergarten and up receives an iPad, allowing them to work in a tech-rich space. Technology is used with purpose, helping our students build skills in critical thinking and problem-solving. Our goal is to make learning engaging and meaningful. Our students show what they have learned in many ways, such as presentations, music and video projects, and digital art. Our teachers take part in a wide range of training for the latest techniques in technology education. This training gives them the knowledge they need to enhance classroom lessons and help their students reach their goals. Community Engagement Our students learn about helping others through community service projects. They explore ways to make a difference, come up with plans, and take action to help their community. These projects help them feel connected and show them the joy of giving back, whether by raising funds, donating items, or volunteering their time. Our students can see the good their actions bring and feel proud of making a difference. They also learn to work together as a team, solve problems, and show kindness. These are skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. They learn how small acts can have a big impact! Specialty Classes Students need more than just reading and math. Our curriculum includes exciting specialty classes in Spanish, music, art, physical education, and technology.
